Hello my name is Alex. I’m from Mexico and I live in the state of Veracruz( the one that its located in front of the gulf of Mexico) in a city called Jalapa but my home town it's called Cardel where my family lives. in Jalapa I spend all the week in the school, I’m in 9 semester of my B.A in languages and I can speak English, French and Spanish and with them I can be a interpreter, translator and teach other persons the language.
This will be my second summer working in the kitchen at North Star. I have worked in my holidays in reception of a hotel in Cancun and
taking care of my nephews and little cousins in the afternoons, now
that they grew up enough I work with my mom preparing big amounts of
food and now I'm in charge of doing the bakery and pastries, my
specialty are the deserts: I know how to prepare a cheesecake, a
chocolate cake and a variety of delicious food. I can't wait to meet you all, I will be in the kitchen so don't be afraid to drop by and say hi!!

What is my dream job?
- My dream job is to be part of the crew of a cruise, I love traveling and know other cultures and in a cruise I can travel around the world and meet new people all the time.
A secret hobby or skill that I have?
- I don’t think I have one but one thing that make me special it’s my creativity I’m really good creating things and resolving problems using my brain. Also I know a little about lots of things, so I can spend hours talking about anything, from random things to intellectual and deep topics.
My favorite things to do
- I love reading, spending time outdoors, watching TV, my favorite characters are the characters of adventure time I can feel related to them and even though it’s a program for kids I can spend a complete day watching them and also the big bang theory, American horror story seasons 1,2 and 3,glee and game of thrones.
If it were stranded on a deserted island, what are three things I would bring?
- First and most important: Bear Grylls, if you don’t know him, that guy can escape from any dangerous situation so he will get me out of there. Second, lots of water, I don’t want to drink sea water, that water can kill you in hours.And third I will probably say my cellphone but I don’t think I will have signal in an island so I chose food for my and bear, that guy can eat raw fish like a candy so a nice meal will be prefect.
How did you learn about North Star and why did you apply?
- I knew about north star camp thanks to one of my friends, he told me about the opportunity of going on an exchange program to work in a summer, I said to myself to give it a chance because my pronunciation was horrible and also I will be able to meet new people and also visit America for the first time, it was the best decision that I could ever take.
