Staff Spotlight: Mike Swiryn



Mike Swiryn lives in Washington D.C. with his wife Robin, 2 year old daughter Rhya, 6 week old daughter Lucy and 11 pound dog Scoober. He work as the Director of Organization Development for Bookstore Movers, a local moving company. Mike also works part time as a facilitator at the George Mason University Center for Team and Organizational Learning. Mike will be the Trip Director this summer, which will be Mike's 14th summer at camp. He is excited to be back!

If you wrote an autobiography, what would the title be?

Oof, tough one. Winging it with Wisdom? I heard that from someone once and I like it a lot. Or maybe How to Eat Your Kid's Leftovers and Like It.

What TV show or movie are you ashamed to admit that you love?

Pitch Perfect

Where is your favorite spot at camp?

The trail along the top of the Ridge
What is your dream vacation?

Robin and I were just discussing where we want to take our kids when they are old enough to enjoy traveling. Maybe the Alaskan wilderness.
If you had a super hero power, what would it be?

Intergalactic Teleportation
If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?

I would love to have been in Mission Control during Apollo 11

The files are in the computer!

I make a pretty good curry
What advice would you give to someone coming to North Star for the first time?

Bring a bath mat to wipe your sandy feet on before you get in bed

I have great memories of sleeping out on the athletic field with my whole cabin and a few others during the meteor shower
